We are Main Street.
As a Main Street America™ Accredited program, Brooksville Main Street is a recognized leading program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. All Main Street America™ Accredited programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by Main Street America.
Brooksville Main Street is a nonprofit organization that is also an accredited member of Florida Main Street, a division of the Florida Department of State. A maximum of three cities per year are chosen for Main Street America designation. Brooksville earned theirs in late 2016 officially starting the program in 2017.

Main Street Transformation Strategies are implemented through comprehensive work in four broad areas, known as the Four Points.
Economic Vitality
Economic vitality is about smart growth. It focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and innovators that drive local economies.
Design
Design is about beautification. It supports a community’s transformation by enhancing the physical and visual assets that set the commercial district apart.
Organization
Organization is about collaboration. It involves creating a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort, including cultivating partnerships, community involvement, and resources for the district.
Promotion
Promotion is about placemaking. It positions the downtown or commercial district as the center of the community and hub of economic activity while creating a positive image that showcases a community’s unique characteristics.
Main Street America began in 1980 as an innovative way to revitalize downtown areas. The philosophy worked, and since then has been used in communities across America to make downtowns (and thus their cities) healthy.
Florida Main Street provides oversight for the programs in our state. They provide training, development, and important networking invaluable to us.
What is the Main Street District?
Brooksville Main Street’ District has the same boundaries as the City Community Redevelopment Agency (view map). Businesses and residences in the district qualify for special grants, promotions, and assistance from both BMS and the City of Brooksville.
